Kingdom Hall Construction

So after clearing out a path, our Kingdom Hall construction got underway, its suppose to be finished in about 2 weeks of course, its very simple, just a roof and concrete.

Here is me using a pull trying to remove the root. The area that I am standing in is suppose to be the door to the Kingdom Hall

Here is Daniel and Luis working hard to throw dirt out of the little tailor.

Here is a picture of what the semi-built Kingdom Hall looks like.

Ceviche!

A study in our congregation gave us money to order cerviche at a nearby restaurant. It was pretty good!

Here is the ceviche, it had shrimp, jalapeños, cilantro and some muscles. I had mine with a bear, it was very yummy!

City of Quepos and Kingdom Hall

On Monday, I went to the city of Quepos by bus with my friend to get my hair cut, buy some groceries and take out money at the bank. Quepos is the nearest city to me, as the place I live in is like a small village you could say.

Here is a picture of the town of Quepos. Quepos population is about 14,000 people, so very small.

This is a picture of the Kingdom Hall in Quepos. I do not go to this one. There are 3 Spanish congregations in Quepos and 1 English congregation due to a lot of foreigners that come and live in Quepos area.

Here is another picture of the Kingdom Hall.

Austin despedida

So last Friday was a busy day, we were preaching, went to the beach and in the evening they had a despedidad (good bye party) for Austin, since he was going back to his former congregation and home the upcoming Sunday. At the despedida they had singing of Kingdom Melodies, a trivia quiz about the people in the Matapalo congregation and a funny drama, which I got on video.

Here is Max and Luis singing kingdom melodies.

These are the girls of the congregation and Luis singing Kingdom Melodies. I haven't learned all there names yet.

This is Austin and two other girls Victoria on the far left and Megan in blue that are also visiting our congregation. Matt the American brother is giving them a trivia quiz about the brothers in Matapalo. Victoria and Megan have been in Matapalo for almost 4 months, and they will be going home on June 6th.

Matapalo Beach

After playing we soccer, we went to go swimming in Matapalo beach, which is the beach right next to the apartment I am staying at, its about a 15-20 minute walk from my apartment.

Here is Daniel and Austin going out to the beach to go swimming in the waves.

This is Max, he is from America and his dad is here helping out the congregation in Matapalo, you should here his Spanish, you would never know he was a blond hair, blue eyed kid hehe.
Those things in the tree are called pipa's, they are like green or yellow coconuts that contain water in them to drink. Anyways, the boys massacred this tree, throwing other pipas and rocks at it to get all the pipas down haha.

Here is daniel drinking a pipa, max watching him and Austin is waiting for a pipa to fall down from the tree.

Soccer at the beach

Getting close to Austins last day with the congregation in Matapalo, we went to the beach and played some soccer. Since there was only 4 of us, we couldn't have a real game, so we played a two on two game. Two goalies, one person doing a free kick far away and another person getting the rebound, then you take turns and switch. My team won 4 games to 1 and I scored 3 goals.

Here is a picture of Adolfo kicking a free kick.
Here is me lining up to do a free kick. Because I was doing really well that day, they were calling me "Mitchi Donovan"
Here is Daniel running after the ball.

Austin watching the ball go by him.

Preaching in Dos Bocas

So this week on Wednesday I got the privlede to preach in an area called Dos Bocas. Its up in the mountain, with lots of jungle, rocky roads. Its only like 30 minutes from the Main road, but you feel like your out in the middle of no were. Anyways the people were very receptive to our message, a lady we talked said she thought the work we were doing was great, and accepted the magazines, and had a friendly chat.

Here we parked the card to go preach to the people in the house. There was a wild pig walking around with some piglets.

There is me with my book bag ready to preach. If you notice none of the brothers have ties in any of the preaching pictures. Apparently there was a letter from the branch saying it was not necessary to wear a tie if the weather was too hot!

This is my friend Daniel again. We were preaching together in this area.

Here is a little river that was on the path when we preached in Dos Bocas.

This is a shot from the bridge.

Here is me standing next to River. The water was moving pretty fast!

A day in Quepos and at the Beach

We went to visit the cost line in the City of Quepos, and you can tell from the pictures, its very beautiful!

Here are my two friends, Daniel and Austin who are about to jump off that rock

Finally I put a picture of my self on the site, so yes this is proof I am in Costa Rica haha!

Here is my friend Austin to the right and Daniel to the left about ready to jump off the rock.

Here is a scenic shot of the bay in Quepos, its very beautiful I thought!
Here is another shot of the shoreline in Qupos, not very good for swimming since there is no sand.

Finally we went to the tourist beach area, called Manuel Antonio. Its a super nice beach, and lost of foreigners there. The ways are really fun to play around in.

Here is another shot of the beach in Manuel Antonio.

Kingdom Hall Cleaning

This Saturday, we went to this brothers house and cleared out a bunch of tree's and plants for an area they are going to build a Kingdom hall, well actually it will just be concrete with a roof and some chairs and platform, not like a real building.

Here is a picture of all the plant stuff we were piling up to burn later.

This sister's name is Chary, like チャリ in Japanese which means bicycle, she is really adorable and likes talking to me, her family is very friendly!

This is Brother Adolfo Torres, he has very funny facial expressions, and he loves to joke, but be careful, he's got a machete in his hand, just kidding!

This is Chary's brother Daniel with another boy from our hall, I can't remember his dificult name. Anyways everyone tells me he is a Monster, and is hard to deal with and I am coming to find out, they were right!

FOOD

Soo what have I been eating in Costa Rica? Well I am not very close to any major super markets so my choice of stuff is pretty limited unfortunately. Here is what I Have cooked recently.

Here I made spanish rice with fried plantains, they are like banana's but hard and not sweet, and I hate it with tortillas and butter.

Here is something more traditional, I made some tacos, not very good in my opinion cause I couldn't get any of the important ingredients. They don't even have taco seasoning here, thankfully they had some Mexican hot sauce to give the food some flavor!!

On my Third night cooking here, I used my left over taco meat to make taco salad, it came out ok, I don't have the right ingredients to make it taste good!

What a day!

So I went with the brother from my hall who I recently met named Matt to go into down, he had to do a few errands and I needed to get some groceries. So anyways he had to go check out this property up int he mountains that he looks after for this guy. On the way there his car stalled out about a half mile till the place, so we had to walk there, get some gas, we poured it in the car, and it still wouldn't work, so we had to walke like 3 miles towards the town to get the mechanic to start it, and finally we fixed the problem and got home... aye what a long day it was, I was exhausted!

Here is a picture of the area we drove up into. Costa Rica has a beautiful Forrest.

Here is a picture of the river that Matts car stalled in.

Here is a picture of the car that stalled, its pretty beat up. Matt is putting gas in it, unfortunately that wasn't the problem!! It was the spark that needed replacing!
